The Data Science and AI Institute (DSAI) at Johns Hopkins University appoints postdoctoral fellows to advance the foundational methods of data science and artificial intelligence, and to apply them across science, health, medicine, the humanities, engineering, policy, governance, democracy and ethics. Fellows join the Institute’s research community as an interdisciplinary cohort and work with its faculty, who are based in divisions and departments across the university. Appointments run for two years, with an extension possible subject to performance and continued funding.
The Institute is the centre of a large build-out at the Whiting School of Engineering, which is adding 150 tenure-track posts — among them 30 Bloomberg Distinguished Professorships and 80 DSAI positions — along with a new building, 30 research engineers and new computing infrastructure. Fellows collaborate with Institute members across the Homewood campus, the East Baltimore health and medicine campus, the Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, Maryland, and the Washington, D.C. campus. The Institute has issued the call once a year so far; the 2026–27 round closed on 23 January 2026 and the programme page currently states that applications are closed.
