Jardine Foundation Scholarships for Postgraduate Studies

Benefits & funding

• University tuition fees and college fees, paid directly to the University and the college.
• An annual stipend for board, lodging and other day-to-day costs, paid in three instalments a year with a larger first payment. No stipend figure is published.
• The UK Immigration Health Surcharge.
• One economy-class flight from home to the UK at the start and one back at the end, reimbursed at cost.
• The Trustees may consider a reasonable sum for research and fieldwork, and may add hardship support at their discretion.
• Funding covers the whole course, up to four years. There is no extra money for family members.
• For reference, the Blavatnik School lists the 2026–27 MPP course fee as £54,650 for both Home and Overseas students.
• The Oxford strand listed by the Blavatnik School offers up to five full scholarships. The Queen’s College says the number available varies each year.

Eligibility

• A national of Cambodia, mainland China, Hong Kong SAR, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand or Vietnam, or a resident of one of these places for at least seven years. The Oxford strand listed by the Blavatnik School states the rule as being ordinarily resident in one of them.
• Applying for a full-time postgraduate course (master’s or doctoral) at Oxford or Cambridge. Any subject is accepted.
• In the early stages of their career when applying, and in a satisfactory state of health.
• Must take up a place at one of the eight partner colleges. In the Oxford strand, the college named on the graduate application does not matter; successful applicants move to a partner college.
• College routes are stricter: Exeter asked applicants to name Exeter as their preferred college, and The Queen’s College requires Queen’s as first preference from the 2027 cycle.
• Scholars may not hold any other scholarship during the award, and need the Trustees’ consent for any job beyond short vacation work.

Application process

   Apply for a full-time postgraduate course at Oxford or Cambridge by that course’s own deadline. For the Oxford MPP (2027–28 entry) the deadline is 2 December 2026, and the Blavatnik School advises submitting by mid-November.

   Oxford MPP applicants who meet the residence rule are considered for the Oxford strand automatically. No separate form is needed at this stage.

   For the Foundation’s college route, partner colleges invite eligible offer-holders to complete the Jardine Foundation application form. In the 2026 round, Oriel sent invitations by email in mid-March and Exeter’s deadline was noon on 13 March 2026.

   Send the form to the college’s Graduate Admissions Tutor with three answers of up to 200 words each, a CV, a recent passport-size photo, a copy of the completed Oxford or Cambridge application, certified copies of qualifications, and a signed reference letter on letterhead.

   Colleges screen applications and forward suitable candidates to the Foundation. Finalists meet the Selection Committee between the last week of April and the first week of May.

   The award is conditional on taking up the place at a partner college.
