IUPALS is overseen by the Conference of Italian University Rectors and involves two Italian ministries and the Consulate General of Italy in Jerusalem. Sapienza’s 2025 call selected two students residing in the Palestinian Territories for three years of bachelor’s study in Rome.
Applicants chose one English-taught degree: Classics, Global Humanities, Business Sciences, or Economics and Finance. The scholarship covers the 2025–26, 2026–27, and 2027–28 academic years.
Benefits & funding
- An annual allowance of €7,050 and a tuition-fee waiver for three full academic years.
- Rent-free accommodation in a Sapienza residence and free university-canteen meals for three years.
- Up to €700 per year for National Health Service enrolment or private health insurance.
- Free sports facilities plus orientation, academic tutoring, language support, and psychological support when needed.
Eligibility
- Applicants had to come from Palestine and reside in the Palestinian Territories.
- Applicants needed a secondary-school diploma earned after at least 12 years of study and valid for entry to an Italian first-cycle degree.
- English proficiency was required, with a CEFR B2-or-higher certificate included in the final email submission.
- Each applicant could choose only one of the four eligible English-taught bachelor’s programs.

Application process
- 1Submit the pre-enrolment application through Universitaly with a passport, passport photo, diploma, and transcript in the original language plus an official sworn Italian or English translation.
- 2Pre-enrol through Sapienza’s Infostud platform and obtain a student ID.
- 3Email Sapienza the passport, diploma, translated transcript, and B2-or-higher English certificate using the required IUPALS subject line.
- 4Await the final ranking and, if selected, accept by email within seven days before completing the study-visa and residence-permit steps.
