Italian Erasmus is Sapienza University of Rome’s national mobility programme for study at participating Italian universities. Students follow approved coursework, examinations, or thesis-related activity at one partner institution, with completed work recognised through a Learning Agreement.

The first-semester 2026–2027 call offered 299 grants and is now closed. It covered specific Sapienza degree programmes and destination-course pairings listed in the call and Annex A.

Benefits & funding

  • The grant is €1,000 per month for a mobility period of 3–6 months.
  • For mobility longer than three months, three months of funding are paid at the start and the balance at the end; a three-month mobility is paid in one instalment.
  • Successfully completed activities and credits are recognised when they were approved in advance through the Learning Agreement.

Eligibility

  • Applicants for this cycle had to be enrolled at Sapienza in 2025–2026 in one of the degree programmes listed in Article 2 and apply for one matching destination-course route in Annex A.
  • The university ISEE (ISEE Università) for 2025 could not exceed €50,000, and a higher value excluded the applicant from selection.
  • The figure used was the university ISEE already held on Infostud for 2025–2026 enrolment; only students whose figure was missing there had to attach a 2025 or 2026 university ISEE to the application.
  • Foreign students holding no 2025 university ISEE attached the equivalent student-aid ISEE (ISEE per il diritto allo studio parificato) instead.
  • Bachelor’s and single-cycle students had to be from the second year through the first year beyond the standard duration and have completed at least two-fifths of the credits expected by the preceding academic year.
  • First-year master’s students could apply; later-year master’s students had to be from the second year through the first year beyond the standard duration and meet the same two-fifths credit threshold.
  • Applicants with a prior non-Italian degree that could not be converted had to provide a SAT result, and anyone taking courses in another language needed B2 competence in that language.
  • No nationality, residence, work-experience, age, or gender restriction was stated.

We only check the criteria we have data for. Always confirm full eligibility on the official page before applying.

Application process

  1. 1
Check Article 2 and Annex A to confirm that the Sapienza programme, host university, and destination course form an eligible route.
  2. 2
Review the host course offering and identify activities that could enter the Learning Agreement.
  3. 3
Complete the application in Contributieborse, verify the academic data imported from Infostud, and add any required prior-career records or ISEE documentation.
  4. 4
Select one host university and one destination course, then submit the application; a saved but unsubmitted form does not enter the competition.
  5. 5
If selected, send the proposed Learning Agreement within 10 days of the institutional email; the grant depends on its approval.
