Benefits & funding

• No tuition fee for any participant
• Roughly three weeks of lectures and direct exchange with invited international scholars; ten were listed for the 2026 session, from institutions including the University of Copenhagen, the World Meteorological Organization, Duke University, the University of Toronto and the University of Manchester
• Certificate of completion signed by a representative of the organizers
• CSC scholarship of around RMB 1,500 for a limited number of non-Chinese participants, first come first served and subject to the final decision of the China Scholarship Council; applicants who are currently studying or working in China are not eligible for it
• Accommodation scholarship for a limited number of international participants: free twin-room housing for the session dates, in exchange for serving as a rapporteur and summarizing the lecture sessions at the closing ceremony
• Participants pay their own transport, health insurance, living costs, and accommodation if they do not hold the accommodation scholarship

Eligibility

• Students, postdoctoral researchers, and young scholars who received a PhD within the past five years
• Fields: atmospheric sciences, environmental sciences, climate governance or related areas
• English proficiency is required; the teaching language is English
• Open to all nationalities; Chinese and non-Chinese applicants use different application portals
• Non-Chinese applicants need a passport valid for at least six months beyond their departure from China; for the 2026 session it could not expire before 24 January 2027
• No age limit, gender requirement or residency requirement is stated, and the page does not define which study levels count as “students”

Application process

   Chinese applicants register on the Fudan registration portal and upload the required documents.

   Non-Chinese applicants submit two applications: the Fudan international student portal using admission code 980762, and the same registration portal.

   Upload a detailed CV and a personal statement of at most one page in two paragraphs — one on your motivation to attend, one on how your research and career goals relate to that year’s theme.

   Apply by the scholarship deadline to be considered for funding; in 2026 that was 8 May, with results within two weeks.

   Otherwise apply by the general deadline; in 2026 that was 31 May, with results within one week.
