The International Granada Writers in Residence Programme brings two writers to Granada for a 30-night residency at the University of Granada’s Corrala de Santiago. Granada UNESCO City of Literature and the University of Granada run the programme to support literary creation, international exchange and connections with the city’s literary community.
Residents work on a proposed literary project and take part in public, workshop and educational activities. The 2026 stay runs from 2 November to 1 December.

Eligibility
- Open to writers residing in any country and writing in any language.
- Applicants must have published at least two individually authored books in fiction, essays, poetry, drama or hybrid literary forms. Anthology contributions, collective volumes, self-published works and chapbooks do not count.
- Applicants need intermediate to advanced English and/or Spanish. Spanish knowledge is valued but is not mandatory.
- Residents must work on their literary project, participate in programme activities, publicly acknowledge the residency and obtain approval before undertaking outside public activities during the stay.
- No degree, age, gender or nationality requirement is stated.

Application process

- 2Complete the form in English or Spanish, including personal details, publication history, a writing description, project synopsis, motivation statement and any connection to a UNESCO City of Literature.
- 3Applicants may strengthen the submission with a 1,500–3,000-word extract from a published book in Spanish or English and one or more recommendation letters.
