Interpeace and the Geneva Graduate Institute run the International Geneva Peace Fellowship Programme with support from the Foundation for the Adaptation of International Geneva. The pilot cohort brings ten fellows to Geneva for nine months, from September 2026 to June 2027. Fellows are housed at Domaine Barton on the shore of Lake Geneva and are embedded in a partner organisation working on peace or humanitarian diplomacy, each with a designated mentor.
Every fellow develops a strategic initiative in one of six thematic areas, from the new frontier of peacemaking to women, peace and security. The partners describe the fellowship as hands-on and practice-oriented, built for people moving into policy and practice careers. It is not a postdoctoral research programme.

Eligibility
- Candidates must match at least one profile: a recent master’s graduate in peace-related studies, social science or international relations who finished the degree within 12 months of applying; an advanced PhD candidate moving into policy and practice work; a junior professional with one to four years of experience; or a mid-career professional with five to ten years of experience
- Excellent writing and communication skills in English and/or French
- Exceptional leadership potential in policy and/or practice, with a balance of analytical and practical experience
- Ability to work in a multicultural team, with flexibility and adaptability
- Availability for the full nine-month residency in Geneva, September 2026 to June 2027

Application process
- 1Choose one of the six thematic areas: the new frontier of peacemaking; health and peace; ecumenical peacebuilding and faith-based diplomacy; youth leadership, participation and peacebuilding; protection of civilians and contemporary conflict dynamics; or women, peace and security and inclusive peacebuilding.
- 2Prepare a CV of no more than two pages covering academic and professional achievements.
- 3Write a cover letter of no more than one page, about 500 words, naming the preferred thematic area, the leadership experience behind the application, and the strategic initiative to be developed during the fellowship.
