INSEAD administers this endowed scholarship, established by the AMPA Foundation with support from Luc Van Schil MBA’81. It supports qualifying candidates entering INSEAD’s one-year, full-time MBA, whose starting campus is Fontainebleau or Singapore. Two scholarships are awarded each year.

The award seeks to increase representation of Sub-Saharan African participants. The donor hopes recipients will later support entrepreneurship and investment in African SMEs through the AMPA Foundation’s advisory network.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be nationals of one of these Sub-Saharan African countries: Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cabo Verde, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, São Tomé and Príncipe, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zambia, or Zimbabwe.
  • Applicants must have spent a substantial part of their lives and completed part of their prior education in Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Applicants must require financial assistance.
  • Applicants must have been admitted to the INSEAD MBA or already submitted an MBA application.
  • INSEAD does not make an undergraduate degree compulsory for MBA admission; applicants without one need an excellent career record and GMAT score. INSEAD also states that MBA admission has no age limit and publishes no hard work-experience minimum.
