The Indigenous Student Leader Award is an entrance scholarship from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto. It supports one incoming student who will begin the Full-Time MBA in Toronto.

Selection is tied to the MBA admission decision and is based on merit. The award focuses on undergraduate academic excellence, leadership, and active involvement in the Indigenous community; financial need may receive additional consideration.

Benefits & funding

  • The recipient receives CAD 25,000.
  • Payment is spread over two years, or three years for a student enrolled in a dual-degree program.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be entering the first year of Rotman’s Full-Time MBA.
  • Applicants must self-identify as Indigenous, defined by Rotman as the Original People of Turtle Island, including First Nations, Métis, and Inuit people of Canada.
  • Applicants must demonstrate undergraduate academic excellence, strong leadership qualities, and active involvement in the Indigenous community.
  • Full-Time MBA admission requires a recognized four-year undergraduate degree or equivalent with at least a 3.0 GPA or mid-B average in the final year.
  • The MBA normally requires at least two years of full-time work experience; applicants to some combined degrees are excepted.
  • Applicants must also meet the MBA’s English-proficiency and GMAT or GRE requirements unless an official exemption applies.
  • The award page states no separate citizenship or residency requirement; its stated identity requirement still applies.
