The IBEF Scholarship is offered by the International Buddhist Education Foundation for graduate students at University of the West. It supports study in Religious Studies and Buddhist Chaplaincy.
Newly admitted and continuing students use IBEF forms hosted by UWest. Applications are considered for the spring and fall semesters.
Benefits & funding
- The award is $3,500–$4,500 per semester.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be newly admitted or continuing UWest graduate students in Religious Studies or Buddhist Chaplaincy.
- Eligible degree programs listed on the application are MA, MDiv, DBMin, and PhD.
- Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.5.
- Applicants must enroll full time, normally in at least 9 units per semester; exceptions require an IBEF petition explaining why full-time registration is not possible or necessary.
- No nationality or country-of-residence restriction is stated.

Application process
- 1Download the IBEF Scholarship/Fellowship Application Form from the UWest Financial Aid Forms page.
- 2Select the semester and the IBEF Scholarship option, then complete the form.
- 3First-time and newly admitted applicants must assemble the application form, official transcript, two recommendation letters, and an essay addressing the three required prompts; monastic applicants also provide the verification letter.
- 4Submit the complete packet together in one sealed envelope to the IBEF Scholarship/Fellowship Program at University of the West before the applicable deadline.
