Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship (HHH) Program — Fellowship

The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship (HHH) Program is the Thai national competition for the Humphrey Fellowship. It is run by the Thailand-United States Educational Foundation (TUSEF, known as Fulbright Thailand), a binational foundation funded jointly by the Thai and U.S. governments and directed by a board drawn from Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the U.S. Embassy.

The fellowship year does not lead to a degree. Fellows take graduate-level coursework at a U.S. host university and follow a professional development plan built around their own field, which includes a six-week affiliation with a U.S. organisation.

Fulbright Thailand awards up to two grants a year. Candidates must be in work when they apply and must have their employer’s written guarantee of reemployment when they return to Thailand.

Eligibility

Thai citizenship
Age 55 or under
A bachelor’s degree from a Thai university
At least five years of full-time work carrying leadership or management responsibility
A record of professional achievement and evidence of leadership potential
English score of TOEFL iBT 71+, IELTS 6.0+, or Duolingo English Test 110+; Duolingo counts for the application stage only, and a TOEFL or IELTS score is required once shortlisted
Currently employed, able to take leave, with reemployment guaranteed on return
A professional field that matches Thailand’s stated priorities

Application process

Check that your work sits inside one of the Humphrey program areas: communications and journalism, law and governance, natural resources policy, public and economic policy, public health policy and management, or technology policy and management.

Watch the Fulbright Thailand HHH page for the cycle announcement; the application window runs from April to July.

Submit the online application with official diplomas and transcripts for all post-secondary study, a valid passport or Thai national ID card, and an English test score report.

Line up two referees, one of them your current employer; recommenders submit their letters online themselves.

Shortlisted candidates are interviewed in July or August.

Final results are announced in April, a pre-departure orientation follows in June, and the grant begins in August.
