The HSF Youth Delegate Programme brings young professionals into Helsinki Security Forum, a high-level security conference established by the Finnish Institute of International Affairs. Delegates join discussions in Helsinki and contribute their own perspectives on European security and defence.

The programme is tracked as a recurring route into the annual forum. The official 2026 event page and current news index do not publish a newer Youth Delegate call, so the opportunity remains between cycles.

Benefits & funding

  • HSF-related travel and accommodation expenses are covered for selected delegates.
  • Delegates attend the three-day Helsinki Security Forum.

Eligibility

  • Open to applicants of all nationalities; no residency or degree-level restriction is stated.
  • Applicants must be under 30 years old.
  • Applicants need relevant academic or professional experience in security, defence, international relations, or a related field.
  • Applicants must submit a 700–1000-word essay and commit to sharing their HSF experience and key takeaways on social media.
  • Applicants must resolve visa requirements independently because HSF cannot obtain a visa for them within the programme timeline.
