The HKU CDS Research Internship Programme places second- and third-year undergraduates alongside faculty in the School of Computing and Data Science at The University of Hong Kong for a summer of hands-on research. Each intern is matched to a supervisor working in computer science, artificial intelligence or data science and joins an active lab for roughly six weeks. About 40 places are offered each year to students from universities in mainland China, Hong Kong and overseas. Participants may work on campus in Hong Kong or, where agreed with the supervisor, remotely.
Benefits & funding
- Stipend of around HK$19,601 for the internship period.
- On-campus interns may negotiate an additional allowance toward air tickets and hotel costs with their supervisor.
- Direct research experience and mentorship within an HKU faculty lab.

Eligibility
- Current Year 2 or Year 3 undergraduate students.
- Studying computer science, AI, data science or a related field.
- Open to students at universities in mainland China, Hong Kong or other countries.
- Strong academic standing (GPA and grade ranking are requested).
Application process

- 2Submit the online application with GPA and grade-ranking information.
- 3Attend a short interview (for example via Skype) if invited.
- 4Await results, notified around May.
