The Royal Thai Government pays for a set of non-binding graduate scholarships at the Asian Institute of Technology, an English-language postgraduate institute founded in 1959 on a residential campus in Pathum Thani, just north of Bangkok. The award named for His Majesty the King goes to applicants from Asian countries with a strong undergraduate record who are starting their first master’s degree.
Holders study in one of three units: the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, the Faculty of Advanced Science and Technology, or the School of Management. Subjects range from structural, water and transportation engineering to computer science, remote sensing, industrial systems engineering, and business analytics and finance.
AIT presents the scheme as a way to bring students from across Asia onto one campus to study and do research together. Non-binding means graduates carry no service obligation to Thailand afterwards.

Eligibility
- Open to applicants from Asian countries. AIT publishes no country list for this award.
- For a first master’s degree only.
- A bachelor’s degree, normally from a four-year program, in a related field from an institution AIT accepts.
- Bachelor’s GPA of 3.5 or above, or the equivalent, under the Royal Thai Government scholarship terms. AIT’s general master’s admission floor is a cGPA of 2.75.
- English: IELTS Academic 6.0 overall with 6.0 in writing, or AIT-EET 6.0 or above. AIT also accepts TOEFL iBT 80 or PTE Academic 52 for admission, and requires an official score of 6.0 overall and in writing, no older than two years, for full scholarship consideration.
- The chosen program must sit in the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, the Faculty of Advanced Science and Technology, or the School of Management.
- One-year master’s programs are not eligible for AIT scholarships.
- Satisfactory physical and mental health and a record of good conduct.

Application process
