GATE Institute at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, with the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics (FMI), awards Google DeepMind AI Masters Scholarships for the 2026–2027 academic year. This cycle offers two awards, up from one last year.

Scholars study in Sofia on one of three FMI master’s programmes: Artificial Intelligence, Information Retrieval and Knowledge Discovery, or Big Data Technologies.

  • Ordinarily resident in an EU member state: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain or Sweden; no nationality is named
  • Bachelor’s degree with an overall grade of at least 4.50
  • Admission-exam result of at least 4.50
  • Applied to and admitted to one of the three eligible FMI master’s programmes for 2026–2027
  • Household income per member below Bulgaria’s minimum wage as of 1 January 2026
