Official Page

The Ghana National Brain Bee is a nationwide neuroscience quiz for junior-high and senior-high students. Ghana Neuroscience Society and IBRO sponsored the last publicly documented cycle.

Applicants first joined an online preparatory session and test; sixteen advanced to a three-day final in Accra. The documented 2021 schedule ran from the first preparatory session on 14 October through the final on 27 October. The Ghana chapter is not hosting a competition in 2026, and no next registration date has been announced.

Benefits & funding

  • The published 2021 notice did not state an application or participation fee.
  • All sixteen finalists received souvenirs and certificates.
  • Winners received additional awards at the 2021 Society of Neuroscientists of Africa conference.
  • Finalists could meet and receive career tutoring from Ghana Neuroscience Society members.

Eligibility

  • The 2021 nationwide call accepted junior-high and senior-high students.
  • IBB rules require students to participate in the Brain Bee for their country of residence; Ghana chapter applicants must therefore reside in Ghana.
  • The Ghana notice did not publish a local age limit or nationality rule.
  • IBB rules cap World Championship eligibility at age 19, but national chapters set their own participation rules.
