The Frontiers of Life Sciences International Undergraduate Summer School is an annual two-week program organized by Westlake University School of Life Sciences. It brings junior and senior undergraduates to the Yungu Campus in Hangzhou for lectures, laboratory experiments, a mini research project and cultural activities.
The 2026 cohort selected 150 students from around the world. The program ran from July 22 to August 5, 2026, and applications are now closed.
Benefits & funding
- The program charges no tuition and provides on-campus accommodation, a daily meal allowance, personal accident insurance and short-term health insurance.
- Domestic students may receive reimbursement for second-class rail travel between domestic cities.
- International students may receive economy-class flight reimbursement of up to RMB 5,000.
- Participants cover visa application fees and additional personal expenses.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be current junior or senior undergraduate students majoring in biology or a related life sciences field.
- Application materials and all program sessions are in English.
- No nationality or residency restriction is stated; non-Chinese participants need a valid Chinese visa unless visa-exempt.
