The Feminist Investigative Journalism Scholarship is run by the Institute for Journalism and Social Change (IJSC), an Amsterdam-based nonprofit, together with SOAS, University of London. It funds two students to take the online MA in Global Data Journalism at SOAS — a fully remote master’s that can be studied from anywhere in the world.
The programme trains reporters, researchers and advocates to use data-driven investigation to expose injustice, with a focus on gender justice and the rights of women and LGBTQI communities. Alongside the degree, recipients join IJSC’s network of investigative journalists and work on real reporting projects.

Eligibility
- A minimum UK 2:2 undergraduate degree, or the international equivalent
- Separate admission to the SOAS MA Global Data Journalism (Online) is required
- No nationality or gender restriction — applicants from communities historically underrepresented in the media, particularly women and LGBTQI people in the Global South, are especially encouraged to apply
- Study is remote, so there is no residency or relocation requirement

Application process
