The Wisconsin Conservatory of Music, the state’s largest community music school, runs a Fellowship in Teaching Artistry for early-career musicians whose focus on performance has left little practical teaching experience.
Fellows relocate to Milwaukee, teach and perform across the city, particularly in underserved and historically excluded communities, and receive career mentorship from teaching artists who combine both. The page still carries the third-cohort call; WCM says updated details come in January 2027, with an anticipated August 2027 start.

Eligibility
- At least a Bachelor’s degree in music; a strings, piano or percussion emphasis is preferred, not required.
- U.S. residency, or a valid U.S. visa lasting the whole fellowship. Applicants of any nationality qualify through either route; the visa must already be held, and the page mentions no sponsorship.
- Willing to relocate to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for the fellowship.
- Reliable transportation.
