The Faculty Mobility for Partnership Building Program is funded by Global Affairs Canada to grow partnerships between Canadian post-secondary institutions and counterparts in Latin America, the Caribbean and, from the 2027–2028 cycle, all 27 EU member states. Full-time professors spend 3–8 weeks abroad teaching, researching or both.

Canadian institutions apply on behalf of their faculty; individuals cannot apply. The 2027–2028 call is open until 6 January 2027.

Benefits & funding

  • Up to CAD 10,000 for a 3–8 week visit, paid through the Canadian institution.
  • Covers visa or permit fees, the most direct economical travel, health insurance and living costs at federal rates; equipment purchases are not covered.
  • Shortening the planned stay by more than seven days may cancel the award.
  • A narrative report of up to 5 pages is due within 30 days of the project’s end; grants cannot be deferred or renewed.

Eligibility

  • The candidate must be a full-time professor at a Canadian post-secondary institution; the institution decides eligibility, and the CV must show full-time professor status.
  • The applying institution must be a Designated Learning Institution (DLI).
  • The host institution must be in an eligible country or territory:
  • Caribbean: Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, the Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Montserrat, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos
  • Central America: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama
  • North America: Mexico
  • South America: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela
  • European Union: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden
  • No nationality, residence, age or degree requirement is stated.

Application process

    The professor contacts their institution’s international office and secures an invitation from a host institution.

    The institution’s designated coordinator applies through an institution account on My EduCanada; each institution may submit up to five applications.
  3. 3
    Documents include a budget form, a CV of up to 6 pages, the host’s invitation letter and a privacy notice signed within the last 6 months; documents not in English or French need a translation.

    Submit by 11:59 p.m. EST, 6 January 2027; institutions may set an earlier internal deadline.
