EMA is a one-year, full-time joint postgraduate programme organised by the Global Campus of Human Rights with 43 participating universities. The first semester runs in Venice from September to January; the second places students at one partner university across Europe for advanced study and thesis research.
The curriculum combines legal, political, historical, anthropological and philosophical perspectives with practical skills, simulations and a Kosovo field trip subject to budget approval. The 2026/27 intake starts on 14 September 2026, while applications for that cycle are closed.
Benefits & funding
- The 2026/27 tuition fee was €6,450, plus a non-refundable €50 application fee.
- Nine partial scholarships each included a full tuition waiver and a €4,500 living-cost stipend paid in two instalments, with the second conditional on successful completion of the first semester.
- Tuition covered teaching, the field trip, learning materials, class-day canteen service and library access; students remained responsible for travel, visas, accommodation and other living costs.
Eligibility
- Applicants needed a high-standard university degree relevant to human rights, normally in law, social sciences or humanities, with at least 180 ECTS.
- Certified English at B2 or above was required; accepted evidence included IELTS 6, TOEFL iBT 80 and Cambridge scores of 160–179 obtained within three years of the programme start.
- EU and non-EU candidates could apply; the main 2026 deadline was 1 February, while an additional EU self-funded round closed on 22 April.
