Mundus Journalism is a two-year master’s in journalism, media and globalisation run by a consortium of European universities. Every student spends year one in Aarhus, Denmark, at Aarhus University and the Danish School of Media and Journalism.
In year two, students specialise in Amsterdam, Prague, London or Munich, chosen when applying. The focus is analytical and critical rather than basic skills training.
Benefits & funding
- Erasmus Mundus scholarship (10–15 top-ranked applicants expected for 2027–2029): full tuition waiver, €1,400 a month for up to 24 months, health and liability insurance.
- Students without the scholarship are expected to qualify for an Erasmus+ stipend of up to €6,000 for year two; allocation rules apply if EU funding runs short.
- Self-funded tuition for 2027–2029: €9,000 for year one (non-EU students only) and €12,000 for year two.
Eligibility
- Open to all nationalities.
- A relevant bachelor’s of at least three years’ full-time study, completed by 1 August before the start; final-year students may apply; above-average grades are expected.
- English at CEFR C1 or above; tests and exemptions vary by year-two university.
- At least three months of documented full-time journalism experience; internships and unpaid journalistic work can count.
- Past Erasmus Mundus scholars and two-year master’s holders may enter self-funded only.
- Year two cannot be in your country of permanent residence; Denmark residents spend semester two abroad.
- Munich track: holders of a bachelor’s from China, India or Vietnam need an APS certificate.

Application process
- 1Choose a year-two specialisation; it is binding once submitted.
- 2Between 1 November 2026 and 10 January 2027 (13:00 CET), submit one application package, including two signed references (one academic, one from an employer), through Aarhus University’s online registration.
- 3The same application covers admission and the scholarship; no motivation letter is needed.
- 4Some applicants are invited to an online interview; results arrive by email on 1 March.
