The Erasmus Mundus Joint Master in Education Policies for Global Development (GLOBED) is a two-year (120 ECTS) international master delivered jointly by a four-university consortium: the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Spain, coordinator), the University of Glasgow (UK), the University of Cyprus, and the University of Bremen (Germany). It trains graduates to analyse the links between globalization, education and international development, and to work in education-policy, research and development roles. Students move between the partner universities across four semesters and complete an internship, fieldwork and a master’s thesis. Up to 30 students are admitted per edition, with a set of European-Union-funded Erasmus Mundus scholarships plus a limited number of self-funded places.

Benefits & funding

  • Erasmus Mundus scholarship of €1,400 per month across the full two-year programme (up to €33,600 in living support).
  • The scholarship also covers subsistence, mobility and installation costs, registration at all four consortium universities, and worldwide health insurance for the 24 months.
  • Per the programme homepage, around 20 of the roughly 30 places per edition are covered by an Erasmus Mundus scholarship; the remaining places are for self-funded students, whose participation cost covers registration at the four universities plus the same 24-month worldwide insurance.
  • Joint master’s degree (120 ECTS) awarded by the consortium, with study, internship and thesis mobility across Spain, the UK, Cyprus and Germany.

Eligibility

  • Open to graduates of any nationality who have completed a first-cycle (bachelor) degree of at least three years / 180 ECTS.
  • Degree in Educational Sciences or a relevant field (preferably Sociology, Social/Cultural Anthropology, Political Science, Human Geography or International Relations).
  • Minimum grade average of 7/10 (or equivalent C), or GPA of 2.75/4.
  • English proficiency at C1, evidenced by a Secure English Language Test issued within the last two years: TOEFL at least 90 (writing at least 24), IELTS Academic at least 7.0 (minimum 6.0 in each section, 6.5 in writing), or Cambridge C1 Advanced at grade C or better.
