The Global Program is the spring intake of Eisenhower Fellowships’ International Program, run by Eisenhower Fellowships (EF), a Philadelphia-based nonprofit founded in 1953. Each spring it gathers a diverse class of mid-career leaders from approximately two dozen countries and invites them to the United States for an intensive fellowship of about five-and-a-half to six weeks with both in-person and virtual components. Fellows open with a seminar in Philadelphia, then undertake customised travel across six to eight U.S. cities — typically two to three meetings a day with counterparts in their field — before reconvening for a closing seminar. Each fellow develops and commits to a concrete project to implement after the program, and joins a lifetime network of more than 1,900 active Eisenhower Fellows worldwide.
Benefits & funding
- Fully funded: Eisenhower Fellowships covers the costs of the fellowship, including international and U.S. domestic travel, lodging, and program expenses.
- Customised program of high-level meetings across six to eight American cities, built around each fellow’s professional goals.
- A self-designed project supported by EF staff and the fellow’s host contacts, intended to produce measurable real-world results.
- Lifetime membership in the global EF network of 1,900+ active Fellows.
- Note: spousal travel is not funded, and the fellowship may not be used for business deals or fundraising.
Eligibility
- Mid-career leaders from any professional field; EF prioritises candidates aged 32–45 at the time of the program, though those slightly outside the range may still qualify on other strengths.
- Citizenship and/or current residence for at least five years in one of the eligible countries the candidate applies to represent. Candidates who do not meet this must obtain a formal nomination from a member of the EF global network.
- Applicants for international programs cannot currently reside in the United States.
- Strong proficiency in English is required.
- Candidates who have held any other fellowship within the previous two years are not considered.
- Use of generative AI/ChatGPT in any essay portion of the application is prohibited.
- Fellows must obtain workplace approval for full-time leave for the duration of the in-person program.
Application process
- 1Review the eligibility and selection criteria and confirm you fall within an eligible country (or secure an EF-network nomination).
- 2Submit the online application through the EF SurveyMonkey Apply portal before the annual deadline.
- 3Shortlisted candidates take part in review and virtual interviews (held June–August for the 2027 cycle), with final selection announced in September.
