Official Page

The E&C Bufton Bursary is a £600 award from UCL’s Faculty of Laws in London. In the 2026 round it is offered to one eligible UK-domiciled student starting an LLB that September.

The bursary shares one application and one interview process with the UCL200 Laws LLB Opportunity Scholarships. A Faculty interview panel decides which award each successful candidate receives.

Both awards use the same eligibility rules, which cover household income, state schooling and UK domicile. The money is paid once the student has enrolled.

Benefits & funding

  • A bursary of £600; one award is offered in the 2026 round.
  • Paid after successful enrolment at UCL.
  • UCL does not say whether the £600 is paid once or in each year of study.

Eligibility

  • An offer for a UCL LLB starting in September 2026, firmly accepted, with the offer conditions met or with confirmation of admission as a “near-miss” candidate.
  • Household income of £42,875 or less.
  • Schooling only at non-fee-paying, state-funded schools or institutions; any time at a fee-paying junior or senior school rules an applicant out.
  • Eligible for Home (UK) fee status and domiciled in the UK.
  • No completed degree at UCL or elsewhere, in any subject.
  • No nationality or age limit is stated.
