The Duckling Seed Grant is a small project fund run by Duckling Media ApS for members of its storytelling community. It supports emerging journalists, photographers, filmmakers, multimedia storytellers, and other members with a thoughtful story idea.

Recipients develop their own projects wherever they are based and receive funding plus editorial support. The program aims to make the first step of producing a substantive story easier.

Benefits & funding

  • Duckling distributes a total grant pool of €1,300 each month, either to one project or among multiple projects.
  • The team selects up to three projects in a monthly round.
  • Recipients receive editorial feedback and promotion of selected stories through Duckling and its partners.
  • Spending is flexible, but recipients must deliver a completed story and a short report describing their work process.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be members of the Duckling community and have a strong, thoughtful story or project idea.
  • The grant is intended for emerging journalists, photographers, filmmakers, multimedia storytellers, and other storytellers; established professional status is not required.
  • Duckling membership is available from age 13, so applicants must be at least 13.
  • The official pages state no degree, professional-experience, nationality, or residency restriction.
