Benefits & funding

• EMJM scholarship: €1,400 a month for 24 months, up to €33,600 per student, paid into the student’s own bank account rather than to the universities.
• The scholarship is meant for travel, visa, installation and subsistence costs.
• No tuition fees, for scholarship holders and self-funded students alike.
• Self-funded students can also apply for Erasmus+ Key Action 1 mobility grants during the degree.
• Extra funding is available for students with a long-term physical, mental, intellectual or sensory impairment under the 2024-2030 funding cycle.
• Winter and summer schools run with industrial and academic partners; the network includes IRCAM, Ubisoft, Sony, the Polish Film Institute and studios across Europe, Asia and North America.

Eligibility

• Open to all nationalities; the programme states no restriction on age, nationality, gender, religion or health condition.
• A bachelor degree worth 180 ECTS in arts, image, sound, music, video, cinema, computer science or a related field.
• Final-year students may apply with at least 150 ECTS plus a sworn statement that 180 ECTS will be completed before the programme starts — 31 August 2026 for the 2026-2028 cohort.
• A different academic background is accepted with strong professional experience in the programme’s fields.
• English at B2 minimum, C1 recommended: IELTS 6, TOEFL ITP 550, TOEFL iBT 90 or TOEIC 650. The Duolingo English Test is not accepted. Native speakers and graduates of fully English-taught degrees are exempt.
• A portfolio of 3 to 5 works, each no more than five years old, is mandatory.
• Scholarship holders must study in at least two Consortium countries, one of them a programme country other than their country of residence.
• Anyone who has already held an EMJM scholarship cannot receive a second one, but may enrol as a self-funded student.

Application process

   Create an account on the eCandidat portal; applications do not go through Études en France.

   Choose one specialisation, Sound-Music or Image — you cannot apply to both.

   Upload the Europass CV in English, an ID or passport, and certified diplomas and transcripts from high school onwards, with English translations where needed.

   Record a video presentation of at most two minutes, which replaces the cover letter.

   Add two letters of recommendation in English, the artistic portfolio (3 to 5 works, PDF up to 5 MB, with metadata and public links) and the science and technology skills assessment.

   Attach the English certificate and submit before the deadline — 16 February 2026 at 23:00 French time for the 2026-2028 cohort. The portal is offline each night between 23:00 and 05:30 French time.

   Shortlisted candidates take a 15-minute online interview in late March; candidates who are not shortlisted are notified within two months, and an appeal can be filed within 10 days of the results.
