Developing Solutions Masters Scholarship

Benefits & funding

• The award covers either 50% or 100% of full-time master’s tuition fees.
• Funding lasts one year and is deducted directly from tuition fees rather than paid to the recipient.
• A student on an eligible two-year master’s course may apply, but the award applies only to first-year tuition.
• The award cannot be combined with another competitive University of Nottingham scholarship; if several are offered, only the highest-value award applies.

Eligibility

• Applicants must be domiciled in any African country, India, or one of the other eligible Commonwealth countries and territories listed by the University: Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Bangladesh, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Brunei, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Falkland Islands, Fiji, Gibraltar, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Kiribati, Malaysia, Maldives, Montserrat, Nauru, Nepal, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Pitcairn Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, Saint Helena, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Tristan da Cunha, Turks and Caicos Islands, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu.
• Applicants must be classified as overseas students for fee purposes and hold an offer for a full-time master’s or MRes course beginning in September 2026 at the University of Nottingham UK.
• The course must be in the Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Faculty of Science, or Faculty of Social Sciences.
• Current University of Nottingham students and graduates, people currently studying in the UK, and people awarded an undergraduate or postgraduate degree outside their home country are ineligible. Study completed in another eligible Developing Solutions country may be considered case by case.
• The University states a domicile requirement but does not state a separate nationality, age, gender, or work-experience requirement.

Application process

   Apply for an eligible full-time master’s or MRes course at the University of Nottingham.

   Receive a conditional or unconditional offer before starting the scholarship application.

   Apply through the scholarships section of the Finance tab in NottinghamHub; MRes offer holders must request instructions from the scholarship team by email.

   Submit all answers within the stated word limits before the scholarship deadline.

   If selected, accept the academic offer by the award deadline so the tuition reduction can be applied.

2. Scholarship decisions communicated.

   By the end of May 2026

3. Eligible full-time master’s and MRes courses begin.

   September 2026

4. The University typically begins advertising scholarships for the following academic year; no exact reopening date is published.
