Deakin Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship — Bachelor's Scholarship

The Deakin Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship is Deakin University’s flagship merit award for international students beginning a coursework degree at its campuses in Victoria, Australia. Successful applicants have 100% or 50% of their tuition fees covered for the normal length of the degree.

Deakin selects on consistently high academic performance and on the potential to contribute to the university and its communities. Scholarship holders must take part in the Vice-Chancellor’s Professional Excellence Program alongside their studies.

Most Deakin international scholarships are awarded automatically from the degree application. This one is different: it needs a separate application form emailed to Deakin International Admissions, and applications are assessed on a rolling basis in the lead-up to each trimester intake.

Benefits & funding

100% or 50% of tuition fees, depending on the outcome of the assessment.
The award runs for the normal duration of the degree.
A place in the Vice-Chancellor’s Professional Excellence Program (VCPEP), which is compulsory for scholarship holders.
Priority access to on-campus accommodation, at the student’s own cost and subject to availability.
Study beyond the standard program duration, including extra or repeated units, is not covered, and additional fees may still apply.

Eligibility

Applicants must be new international students enrolling in a Deakin coursework degree.
Applicants must meet the entry requirements for their chosen program, including the English language requirement.
Applicants need an average of at least 85% (or equivalent) in previous study. Deakin lists these examples: 85% overall in Year 12 (CBSE, ICSE or State Board); a score of 10 overall in GCSE / A Level; 32 overall in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme; or 80% overall across the first four semesters of an undergraduate degree or equivalent.
Students enrolling in the Doctor of Medicine (H911) program are not eligible.
Applicants must not have already accepted another Deakin scholarship.
Deakin publishes no nationality, age or work-experience limits.
Selection is competitive. Meeting the minimum criteria does not guarantee an award, and higher academic results may be required.

Application process

Apply for a Deakin coursework degree as an international student, through Deakin’s StudyLink portal or an authorised Deakin agent.

Complete the International Scholarship Program application form (PDF) published on the scholarship page.

Write a 300-word personal statement in the applicant’s own words, covering why Deakin, any extracurricular or work experience, paid or voluntary, and what makes the applicant a strong ambassador for the university.

Obtain two references that speak to community involvement and/or leadership.

Email the form, personal statement, references and the degree application with academic transcripts to Deakin International Admissions at deakin-int-admissions@deakin.edu.au, at least one month before the program starts.
