Dartmouth College provides need-based financial aid to admitted undergraduate students regardless of citizenship. The program supports international first-year and transfer students studying in person in Hanover, New Hampshire.
Admissions decisions are need-blind, and the Financial Aid Office calculates each admitted applicant’s demonstrated need. Students apply for admission and aid at the same time and reapply for aid each year.

- Dartmouth meets 100% of each admitted aid applicant’s demonstrated need using scholarships, grants and student employment.
- The no-loan policy means borrowing is not expected to meet demonstrated need.
- International aid may include an allowance for travel to the United States.
- For international students other than Canadians, there is no summer earnings expectation before the first year; later years include a $1,500 student work contribution.
- Aid offers include $2,450 in estimated annual earnings from work during academic terms.
Eligibility
- Applicants must seek admission as a Dartmouth undergraduate, either as a first-year or transfer student.
- Financial aid is available regardless of citizenship, and requesting aid does not affect the admissions decision.
- Aid is need-based and is determined after admission for applicants who submit the required financial information.
- A parent’s country of residence changes the supporting-document route but is not an eligibility restriction.

Application process
- 1Submit the appropriate Dartmouth admission application: the Common App for first-year admission or Dartmouth’s transfer application for transfer admission.
- 2Apply for financial aid at the same time using the CSS Profile with Dartmouth code 3351.
- 3Submit the tax or income documents required for the parent-residence route; parents living in the United States use IDOC, while other routes submit the listed documents to the Financial Aid Office.
- 4If the CSS Profile fee creates serious hardship, an international applicant may submit Dartmouth’s ISFAA instead; it is treated as equivalent to the CSS Profile.
- 5Reapply for financial aid each academic year.
