RISE Germany (Research Internships in Science and Engineering) places undergraduate students at German universities, universities of applied sciences, and research institutes for a summer research internship of about three months (minimum stay ten weeks, maximum stay 90 days). It is run by the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) and funded by the German Federal Foreign Office. Students are matched with a host group and work alongside a doctoral-student or researcher mentor; English is the working language and German is not required. About 300 placements are offered each year. DAAD provides a monthly living stipend, insurance, and a travel subsidy, and all interns gather at a funded RISE meeting in Heidelberg.
