The Research Institute for the Humanities at The Chinese University of Hong Kong recruits several postdoctoral fellows to work within the Faculty of Arts. Fellows pursue the major research project proposed in their application and take part in institute events and the faculty’s intellectual life.

The 2026–2028 appointments are based in Hong Kong and run from 1 August 2026 to 31 July 2028. Alignment with the institute’s current interdisciplinary projects is a preference, not an eligibility requirement.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must have received a PhD by 31 July 2026.
  • At the fellowship start, applicants should be no more than three years beyond the date they received their PhD.
  • The appointment cannot be held at the same time as another fellowship or academic position.
  • No nationality or residency restriction is stated; the institute describes the program as serving humanities scholars from around the world.

Application process

    Write a 1,000-word research statement explaining the proposed project’s originality and significance.
