The CSIS Strategy and Statecraft Fellowship brings experienced professionals together to study foreign policy, national security, strategy, and statecraft. Fellows meet in Washington, D.C. for expert-led dinners and complete the program with an intensive summit outside the city.

The year-long program is run by the Center for Strategic and International Studies. The latest published cohort is 2026–2027, and the official page still shows the closed application deadline for that cycle.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
  • CSIS advises applicants to have 10 or more years of experience in their chosen career field; it does not state this as a required minimum.
  • Applicants must be based in the Washington, D.C. area or able to travel there for the dinners at their own expense.
  • No degree, age, or gender requirement is stated.
  • Interest in national and international policy is expected; strategic, corporate, or policy-planning experience is preferred rather than required.
  • Fellows must attend all dinners and the summit and complete 3–5 hours of reading or other preparation each month.
