The CrossCulture Programme (CCP) Fellowships is an annual exchange run by ifa – Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen. It funds 50–60 civil-society professionals and volunteers each year for two to three months with a host organisation in Germany or another CCP partner country.
Fellows develop specialist knowledge, networks and transcultural skills through a work placement, mentoring, training and a workshop. The 2027 cohort is primarily on site, with digital participation possible in some circumstances.
Benefits & funding
- International fellows receive €650 per month plus return airfare, accommodation, local transport, health insurance and visa-fee reimbursement.
- Fellows from Germany receive €1,200 per month plus return airfare, health insurance and visa-fee reimbursement; the stipend covers accommodation and local expenses.
- Support includes a host placement, mentoring, professional development, a 3–4-day workshop, networking and alumni access.
- Accompanying-family costs are excluded, and funding is subject to German Federal Foreign Office approval.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be nationals of, or hold long-term residence permits in, a country accepting 2027 applications: Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Brazil, Cambodia, Colombia, Cuba, Egypt, Georgia, Germany, Guatemala, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Libya, Malaysia, Mauritania, Mexico, Mongolia, Morocco, Nepal, Pakistan, Palestinian Territories, Philippines, Republic of Moldova, Russia, Serbia, Sri Lanka, Syria, Tajikistan, Thailand, Tunisia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan or Vietnam. Russia is limited to exile applications.
- Applicants outside Germany or their country of origin need a long-term permit for their residence country and/or five years’ residence there.
- Applicants must be at least 23, have two years of documented professional or volunteer experience in a home-country civil-society organisation, know written and spoken English, and be fit for a longer stay abroad.
- Applicants must be professionally or voluntarily associated with a relevant organisation. Registered students and recipients of similar same-year funding are ineligible.
- Long-term community engagement, host-country collaboration and additional languages are preferences.
