The CRI Immuno-Informatics Postdoctoral Fellowship supports early-career researchers who want combined training in immunology and data science. The Cancer Research Institute funds hypothesis-driven basic or translational cancer-immunology projects that use computational biology, genomics, data science, or related quantitative methods.
Fellows conduct their research in person at a nonprofit host institution in the United States or another country under an eligible faculty sponsor. Applications are accepted twice each year, and the next deadline is September 1, 2026.
Benefits & funding
- Three years of support.
- Annual stipends of $74,000 in year one, $76,000 in year two, and $78,000 in year three.
- A $5,000 annual allowance paid to the host institution for eligible costs such as research supplies, conference travel, health insurance, or childcare.
- Dedicated support to attend the CRI Bioinformatics Bootcamp.
- CRI does not allow administrative overhead deductions from the stipend or institutional allowance.
Eligibility
- Applicants must hold a doctoral degree by the award activation date.
- The proposed work must address immunology or cancer immunology and be relevant to cancer.
- The research must be conducted at a nonprofit institution under a sponsor who holds a formal appointment at assistant-professor level or above.
- Applicants with five or more years of mentored research experience at activation are ineligible; M.D. applicants do not count residency years toward this limit.
- Applicants who will have spent three or more years in the proposed sponsor’s laboratory by the fellowship start are considered only in exceptional circumstances.
- There are no citizenship or residency restrictions, and the host institution may be in the United States or abroad.
- One fellow per sponsor may apply in each application round.
