Corsicana Artist & Writer Residency hosts artists and writers at 100 West in downtown Corsicana, Texas. The 2027 program offers three two-month terms, each bringing together two artists and one writer for self-directed studio work.

Residents work in private studios inside a preserved former Odd Fellows lodge and take part in presentations, open studios, professional visits, and connections across North Texas. Studio focus and productivity are the program’s first priority.

Benefits & funding

  • The program covers a private furnished studio, lodging at 100 West, public programming, professional documentation, staff support, equipment access, and airport transport on term arrival and departure dates.
  • Residents receive access to the Dallas–Fort Worth cultural network, a mid-term studio visit, and bicycles for local transport.
  • Applicants pay a USD 30 application fee; accepted residents pay a non-refundable USD 200 administration fee by November 1, 2026.
  • Residents cover travel beyond the stated airport transfers, meals, materials, and research costs.
  • An optional Dallas university studio visit and 40-minute presentation carries a USD 500 honorarium.

Eligibility

  • International, United States-based, and Texas-based artists and writers may apply; no nationality, residency, degree, age, gender, or experience restriction is published.
  • Each application is limited to one person per studio.
  • Ceramic, fiberglass, and aerosol-based work cannot be accommodated.
  • Performance, composition, and sound-based applicants should contact the residency director before applying; sound-based work is generally not hosted.
  • Families and pets cannot be accommodated, and 100 West is accessible only by a steep staircase without an elevator.
