Official Page

The Climate Youth Negotiators Programme is run by the Youth Negotiators Academy to prepare young negotiators for meaningful participation in UN climate negotiations. It combines self-paced study, live virtual sessions and an in-person simulation held before the annual climate COP.

Participants enter through nomination by their country focal point and must have a meaningful role in their Party’s delegation. The public programme pages do not offer a direct individual application route.

Benefits & funding

  • Self-paced learning modules delivered through the UN CC:Learn platform.
  • Live virtual sessions with experts, practitioners and other participants.
  • A multi-day, in-person negotiation simulation in the COP host country.
  • The public pages do not state a participation fee or promise universal travel funding; this record classifies the training itself as free, while travel support should not be assumed.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be 18–35 years old.
  • Applicants must be nominated by their Country Focal Point.
  • Nominees must be guaranteed a meaningful role in their Party’s delegation.
  • No degree, work-experience, residency or gender requirement is published.
  • No separate nationality list is stated as an eligibility rule; access depends on nomination through a participating country’s focal point.
