The University of Alberta awards this scholarship to students on a Study Permit entering the first year of an undergraduate degree. Recipients are chosen for academic standing and demonstrated leadership, community engagement, volunteerism or extracurricular involvement.
Applicants who attended high school in China or Hong Kong and hold Chinese or Hong Kong citizenship receive preference; this is not an eligibility bar. Applications go through the university’s Awards Hub.
Benefits & funding
- Up to CAN $120,000, paid over four years.
- Renewal for years two to four requires a GPA of at least 2.0 on at least 18 credits over the latest September–April period, while still on a Study Permit.
- Recipients cannot hold any other University of Alberta international entrance award or scholarship.
