The Carter Center’s Conflict Resolution Program offers internships supporting work to prevent, resolve, and end armed conflict. Interns are based at the Center’s headquarters in Atlanta and assist project teams focused on Africa, the Middle East, and the United States.
Available areas include General, Sudan, Syria, Data Analysis, Israel-Palestine, STAR, and Mali. Typical work includes research, news monitoring, briefs, meeting notes, data analysis, reporting, and event support.
Benefits & funding
- Spring and fall interns receive a USD 5,100 stipend for a 15-week session.
- Summer interns receive a USD 3,400 stipend for a 10-week session.
- Internships require 20 hours per week. At least 10 hours must be completed in person in Atlanta; up to half may be remote with supervisor approval.
- Housing is not provided.
Eligibility
- Applicants must have completed at least two years of undergraduate study by the internship start, be recent graduates within 24 months of the start date, or be current or recent graduate students.
- Applicants of any citizenship may apply, but all must already be authorized to work in the United States. The Carter Center does not sponsor work visas.
- International students at U.S.-based institutions need approval from their host institution.
- There is no age limit.
- Project-specific requirements vary. Listed tracks set minimum GPAs from 3.0 to 3.5, and the Mali track requires conversational French; applicants should check the current job description for their chosen area.
