Campus Reach is Southwest Airlines’ paid college internship program. Interns complete department-specific work and receive professional-development and networking support.
The published 2027 cycles cover spring Technology internships and summer internships across multiple departments. Spring Technology roles are remote with possible required travel; most summer roles are based at the Dallas corporate campus, while summer Technology roles are virtual.
Benefits & funding
- Internships are paid, with the rate determined by the specific position and its requirements.
- A stipend of up to USD 2,000 may be offered based on eligibility and program criteria; after tax deductions, it is paid in one installment with the first paycheck.
- Interns receive free, unlimited, space-available travel to Southwest destinations, subject to seat availability.
- Development support includes access to senior leaders, classes, service projects, an intern mentor, career-exploration chats, and the Gallup CliftonStrengths assessment.
- Relocation costs remain the intern’s responsibility; Southwest provides eligible recipients a housing stipend, housing suggestions, and connections with interns seeking roommates.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be full-time students, as defined by their university, when they apply.
- Their degree, major, or minor must be relevant to the internship; an undergraduate graduation date cannot precede the internship unless the applicant is already enrolled full-time in a graduate program when applying.
- For the published 2027 cycles, applicants need a Fall 2027 graduation date or later and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
- Interns must work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday during normal business hours, and attend the fixed program dates.
- Offsite work cannot be performed regularly from Alaska, California, Colorado, Delaware, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, South Dakota, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia, or Wyoming.
- The public program materials do not state a nationality rule; each position’s job description controls any role-specific employment requirements.
