The BWF/WAoS Sports Management Scholarship Programme supports dual-career athletes and people working in badminton organisations to study the University of London Postgraduate Certificate in International Sports Management. Badminton World Federation and World Academy of Sport offer the scholarship, while the University of London awards the qualification.
Study is fully online and self-paced, and the certificate may be completed in one to five years. The September 2026 scholarship cycle closed on 15 June 2026.
Benefits & funding
- One scholarship covers the full tuition fee.
- Ten scholarships cover 25% of tuition.
- Recipients study a 60-credit, fully online Postgraduate Certificate in International Sports Management and may complete it over one to five years.
Eligibility
- Applicants should be dual-career athletes or professionals working in badminton organisations, clubs or Member Associations.
- Applicants need either an undergraduate degree or five to eight years of relevant work experience supported by professional references.
- Non-native English speakers normally demonstrate proficiency through IELTS 6.5 overall with 6.0 in writing or an accepted equivalent. The application form provides a 500-word essay route for applicants without language certification.
- A national federation endorsement is mandatory.

Application process
- 1Request an endorsement from the applicant’s national badminton federation.
- 2Prepare a passport copy, CV, degree documents, language evidence where applicable, federation endorsement and university transcripts; a recommendation letter is optional.
- 3Complete the WAoS online form, including short responses on professional achievement, scholarship motivation and how the applicant would help develop their organisation.
- 4Submit the form and documents by the cycle deadline; selected applicants then complete University of London registration and any required tuition payment.
