Brain Bee Belgium — Forum / Summit

Brain Bee Belgium is the country’s national neuroscience competition for secondary-school students. It is organised under the auspices of the Belgian Society for Neuroscience, hosted by the University of Antwerp, and co-organised with VIB-CMN and UAntwerp core facilities.

Students complete a written test and the five highest scorers advance to a live oral round. The first edition took place in Antwerp on 9 September 2026; the next cycle has not yet been announced.

Benefits & funding

Participation is free.
First, second, and third place receive €500, €300, and €200 respectively, plus a trophy and goodie bag.
The top five receive neuroscience books and a duo cinema ticket, while every participant receives a goodie bag.
The winner represents Belgium at the International Brain Bee World Championship.

Eligibility

Applicants must be 13–18 years old on the competition date and enrolled in a Belgian secondary school.
No prior neuroscience study is required.
The competition is conducted entirely in English, so participants need English proficiency.
A student may participate in the International Brain Bee only once.

Complete the official online registration form for the announced cycle.

Ask a teacher or student-support coordinator to complete the recommendation template and email it to the organisers; registration is incomplete without it.

Wait for participation confirmation by email; applications beyond capacity may be placed on a waiting list.
