The Peking University route of the Asian Future Leaders Scholarship Program is run by PKU with Bai Xian Asia Institute. It supports eligible students studying full time in Beijing and combines scholarship funding with required BXAI enrichment activities.
At PKU, the eligible routes are Yenching Academy students of Asian nationality and Japanese students in other schools or departments. PKU allocates no more than 10 awards a year, while the two route caps listed on its page are up to five and up to eight respectively.
Benefits & funding
- The AFLSP offers up to US$25,000 per academic year; BXAI’s PKU page states that scholars at PKU are supported for one year.
- Scholars must join the annual BXAI Summer Program in August for up to three weeks.
- Other scholarships, tuition waivers, or third-party funding must be disclosed, and BXAI may review the award terms case by case.
Eligibility
- Yenching Academy students must be of an Asian nationality; students in other PKU schools or departments must be Japanese nationals.
- Degree-route applicants must be studying away from their home country or region in Asia.
- Recipients must remain full-time PKU students throughout the scholarship period and be proficient in English.
- Applicants are assessed for academic excellence, leadership potential, integrity, intercultural understanding, and commitment to service.
- Former Bai Xian Scholars cannot apply again.

Application process
