Benefits & funding

• A €1,400 monthly grant covers tuition fees, travel, insurance and living expenses in Belgium.
• The scholarship includes air travel to Belgium at the start of the programme and return travel at the end.
• Funding is provided for the full three-year programme.

Eligibility

• Applicants must be 19 to 35 years old on 1 January of the intake year.
• Applicants must hold nationality from, and reside at application time in, one of these countries, though nationality and residence need not be the same: Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Guinea, Kenya, Madagascar, Mali, Mozambique, Niger, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Morocco, Palestine, Bolivia, Cuba, Ecuador, Haiti, Nicaragua, Peru, Cambodia, Indonesia, Philippines or Vietnam.
• A diploma equivalent to upper-secondary or high-school completion after about 12 years of schooling is required.
• Scholarship applicants must provide IELTS with at least 6.0 or Duolingo with at least 105; the stated exception is a university or high-school or college diploma earned in South Africa through a programme completed entirely in English.
• Applicants may submit only one ICP Connect scholarship application per year and may not hold another scholarship or grant for this or another programme at the same time.
• Applicants must not previously have received a Belgian-government scholarship for study or have enrolled at a Belgian higher-education institution before 1 January of the intake year.
• Hospitality or culinary experience is an advantage rather than a requirement; selection also favours applicants who can apply or transfer the new skills for positive societal change.

Application process

   Check both the VLIR-UOS scholarship rules and VIVES admission requirements.

   Choose Hospitality Management or Culinary Arts and use the scholarship application link on the VIVES ICP Connect page when the next cycle opens.

   Submit one complete scholarship application, including the required diploma and accepted English-language evidence, before the programme deadline.

   VIVES conducts a first selection, followed by interviews and final selection; VLIR-UOS informs selected and wait-listed applicants.
