Official Page

The Atomic Energy Scholarship Program of China supports doctoral study in nuclear-energy fields at Peking University’s School of Physics. It was initiated by the China Atomic Energy Authority and China’s Ministry of Education, with scholarship administration involving the China Scholarship Council.

The PKU route is taught in English and covers particle and nuclear physics or nuclear technology and applications. Research directions include experimental nuclear physics, light dark-matter searches using superconducting quantum devices, and strong-field physics with advanced acceleration technology.

Benefits & funding

  • The award provides the full Chinese Government Scholarship package; the PKU notice does not itemize the package components.
  • Funding lasts four years, with the study period fixed at admission and no extension.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be citizens of a Belt and Road partner country other than China, be in good health, and intend to contribute to socially beneficial work in the nuclear sector.
  • Chinese nationals are not eligible. The notice publishes no list of Belt and Road partner countries, so confirm your country’s status with the Chinese embassy or the China Scholarship Council before applying.
  • Applicants must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent in nuclear engineering, nuclear technology, mechanics, energy, chemical engineering, physics, or a related field, with strong scientific-research capability.
  • Applicants must be under 40 when applying, so the structured maximum age is 39.
  • Spoken, written, and reading proficiency in English must be documented; non-native English speakers must provide TOEFL iBT 100 or above, GRE 315 or above, or another accepted certificate.
