The Atlantic Music Festival Resident Artist Fellowship is an annual six-week residency for emerging composers, conductors, singers, pianists and other instrumentalists. Atlantic Music Festival hosts the program in Waterville, Maine.
Fellows train, perform and collaborate with faculty and peers while taking part in their selected music program. Up to 40 fellowships are awarded each season.
Benefits & funding
- The fellowship covers tuition, housing and meals for the full six-week residency.
- Fellows receive performance opportunities, mentorship, workshops and professional networking.
- Fellowship applicants pay a non-refundable application fee of USD 75 by November 15, 2026, USD 100 by January 1, 2027, or USD 125 after January 1.
- Accepted fellows pay a USD 750 registration fee, refundable after successful completion, and a USD 350 comprehensive fee.
- Transportation to and from the festival is not included, and personal health insurance is required.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
- Eligible disciplines are composition, conducting, singing, piano, strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion.
- Fellows must attend the entire residency, cannot arrive late or leave early, and must be available to perform every day.
- Fellows participate in their program activities, maintain professional conduct and may contribute up to two hours each day to administrative needs.

Application process

- 2Prepare personal and educational information, the portfolio required by the selected program, two professional references and a valid credit card for the application fee.
- 3Submit the online application after the 2027 cycle opens; references receive an automated request after submission.
- 4The faculty committee reviews complete applications on a rolling basis, and decisions are normally sent within three to six weeks. Accepted applicants have two weeks to confirm attendance and complete registration.
