The Aspire Leaders Program is a free, fully online leadership course run by Aspire Institute, a nonprofit based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It began in 2017 inside Harvard University’s Mittal South Asia Institute as the Crossroads Emerging Leaders Program, and in October 2021 it was spun out as an independent nonprofit. The programme is built for people aged 18 to 29 who are the first in their family to attend university or who come from a limited-income background, and who are studying at or have already graduated from a university. Participants work through six weeks of self-paced coursework in English, join live masterclasses taught by faculty from Harvard, MIT, LSE and Oxford, and study alongside a worldwide cohort. Aspire Institute counts more than 100,000 alumni across 195 countries and runs regional foundries in India, Pakistan, Brazil, Bolivia, Mexico and Türkiye. Cohorts run several times a year; Cohort 4 of 2026 is the one currently open.

- Alumni mentorship, including matching through the Global Mentorship Initiative, regional and country mentorship series, and volunteer leadership roles.
- Three self-paced phases across six weeks: Leadership Foundations, Applying Leadership, and a Final Assessment that produces a résumé, a LinkedIn profile and a personal pitch.
Eligibility
- Aged 18 to 29.
- Currently enrolled in, or graduated from, a university programme — undergraduate or postgraduate. Master’s and PhD students are included.
- Meets at least one of two backgrounds: comes from a limited-income background, or is first-generation to attend university, meaning neither parent nor primary caregiver completed a bachelor’s degree.
- Graduates already in full-time work remain eligible within three years of finishing their degree.
- Intermediate English in speaking, listening and writing, since the whole programme runs in English. No test scores are required.
- Open to applicants of any nationality and any country of residence.
- Both background criteria are self-identified; no income or family documentation is requested.
- Roughly 3 to 5 hours a week of study time across the six weeks.

Application process
- 1Register an account on the Engage platform at engage.aspireleaders.org/registration.
- 2Complete and verify the profile that Engage asks for.
- 3Fill in the application inside Engage. It takes about ten minutes and asks for no essays and no recommendation letters.
- 4Submit before the Cohort 4 deadline of 16 October 2026.
- 5Wait for the admission decision, then begin coursework when the cohort opens on 21 October 2026.
- 6Pass Module 2 to earn the certificate and unlock the alumni benefits.
