The Asia Health Policy Program at Stanford’s Shorenstein APARC awards one fellowship each year to a recent doctoral graduate. The fellow conducts original research on contemporary health or healthcare policy relevant to low- and middle-income countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
The fellow must reside at Stanford, present findings in Center seminars, and contribute to its publication program. The 2026–27 competition is closed, and Stanford plans to post the next cycle’s information in fall 2026.
Benefits & funding
- A minimum 10-month appointment at Stanford.
- Salary based on an annual rate of US $80,000, prorated for the 10-month appointment.
- US $3,000 for research expenses.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be recent PhD or M.D. graduates. When the fellowship starts, no more than three years may have passed since a PhD was awarded, or six years since an M.D. was awarded.
- For the 2026–27 cycle, degree conferral and approval were required by June 30, 2026.
- Proposed research must address contemporary health or healthcare policy relevant to low- and middle-income countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
- The fellow must remain in residence at Stanford for the appointment.
- The published eligibility does not state nationality, residency, gender, or age restrictions.
