The Asia Health Policy Program at Stanford’s Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center (APARC) offers one postdoctoral position each year to a recent doctoral graduate. The fellow carries out original research on contemporary health or healthcare policy relevant to low- and middle-income countries in the Asia-Pacific region.

The fellow lives at Stanford for the appointment, presents findings in Center seminars and contributes to its publication program. Applications for the 2027–28 cycle are open now.

Benefits & funding

  • An appointment of at least 10 months at Stanford, starting in fall quarter 2027.
  • Salary set under Stanford policy at an annual rate of US$83,000, prorated to the 10-month term.
  • US$3,000 for research expenses.

Eligibility

  • Recent graduates only: no more than three years past the PhD, or six years past the M.D., when the fellowship starts.
  • The degree must be conferred and approved by June 30, 2027.
  • The research must address contemporary health or healthcare policy relevant to low- and middle-income Asia-Pacific countries; any related discipline is welcome.
  • The fellow must be in residence at Stanford for the whole appointment.
  • No nationality or residence restriction is stated; Stanford considers applicants regardless of national origin.
