Benefits & funding

• There are no registration or participation fees, and ASEF covers the online training costs, valued at SGD 1,000 per participant.
• A selected number of participants may receive funding support for multiplier-event expenses such as venues, speakers, or online meeting licences.
• The 40 participants selected for the Norway phase receive a five-day training programme, shared twin-room accommodation, meals, a reimbursed travel subsidy covering economy flights, insurance and visa fees, and visa support. ASEF values this package at SGD 6,500 per person; reimbursement may take up to three months after the event.
• Participants who complete the full programme receive a certificate; those attending the Norway phase receive a separate certificate for that component.

Eligibility

• Applicants must be students or young professionals and citizens of an eligible Asian or European country: Australia, Austria, Bangladesh, Belgium, Brunei Darussalam, Bulgaria, Cambodia, China, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Republic of Korea, Lao PDR, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Mongolia, Myanmar, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Pakistan, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russian Federation, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, United Kingdom, or Viet Nam.
• Applicants may live outside an eligible country, but must be able to attend synchronous sessions scheduled for Asian and European time zones.
• The standard age range is 18–30. Applicants up to age 35 may be selected exceptionally, although priority goes to those who meet the standard range.
• Applicants must play a leading role in a youth organisation or student association, such as leading a team, activity, project, or student-representative group; board membership is not required.
• Excellent written and spoken English is required. Prior participation in a similar programme is not required.
• All selected participants must complete both the online training and the local Action Phase. Attendance in Norway is optional at application stage and limited to 40 participants selected according to engagement and commitment during the online phase.

Application process

   Submit the official online application form before the deadline, addressing the motivation and written-response prompts and describing relevant community or societal leadership.

   ASEF assesses applications for motivation, quality and originality of written answers, leadership experience, diversity of perspectives, and potential to create a local multiplier effect.

   Applicants receive the selection result by email; selected participants then join the online phase and complete a local multiplier activity.

   Participants interested in the Norway component indicate their availability in the application form; ASEF makes the additional selection during the online phase.
