The ASEAN Scholar Fellowship is run by the Cambodia Development Resource Institute under its ASEAN Scholar Exchange and Regional Institutional Linkages Initiative. It supports one mid- to senior-level researcher in advanced quantitative policy research, mentoring and collaborative knowledge production.
The five-month programme combines three months in residence at CDRI in Phnom Penh with two months of remote collaboration. The fellow will mentor junior researchers, work on policy research, co-author outputs and deliver a seminar and technical workshop.

Eligibility
- Citizenship in an ASEAN Member State other than Cambodia: Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste or Viet Nam.
- Current affiliation with a university, think tank or research institute in an ASEAN Member State.
- A PhD or established postdoctoral standing in economics, public policy, development studies, data science, statistics or a closely related field; exceptional applicants with a Master’s degree need at least five years of substantial relevant research experience.
- An established record of policy-relevant publications and applied research.
- Strong capability in advanced quantitative methods, econometric modelling, statistical programming or AI-assisted research.
- Experience supervising or mentoring early-career researchers or graduate students.
- Commitment to GEDSI principles, experience in policy research concerning Cambodia or the Mekong sub-region, interest in long-term ASEAN institutional partnerships and strong written and spoken English.
